GIST Catalyst Pitch Competition
The GIST Catalyst pitch competition is an annual competition for science and technology entrepreneurs at the Global Entrepreneurship Summit. Through the competition, young innovators have the opportunity to elevate their pitch and showcase their idea or startup on a global stage. GIST Catalyst also places an emphasis on training entrepreneurs to better pitch their business ideas to investors and potential partners.
Unlike other pitch competitions by GIST, entrepreneurs competing in GIST Catalyst must first be approved to attend the GES and indicate on their GES application that they are interested in participating. GIST then invites a select number of entrepreneurs to compete in the global public vote – when people around the world vote for the idea or startup they want to see compete at the GES.
At the GES, semifinalists and finalists receive pitch training, review from expert judges and exposure to investors, industry leaders and potential partners. Although there is a Grand Prize for the best pitch, GIST Catalyst also offers finalists and semifinalists startup resources including mentorship, cloud computing credits and seed capital.
GIST Catalyst was launched during the 2017 Global Entrepreneurship Summit in Hyderabad, India. Through the competition, 24 entrepreneurs had the opportunity to showcase their startup on a global stage at the GES and compete for more than $400,000 USD in startup resources.
