FarmBracket

The United Nations estimates that a third of all the food produced in the world is never consumed, making for a total of about 1.3 billion tons of spoilage a year.

About 45% of their farm produce spoil before sell as a result remoteness and inadequate market infrastructures. FAOSTAT 2012 shows that 85% of the smallholder farmers in Africa rely on the remote rural market with only one market day per week this exacerbates low productivity among farmers. More worrisome is that many of the farmers in Africa are currently passive participants, often obliged to sell low and buy high, with little choice of where they conduct transactions, with whom, and at what price.

“FarmBracket “is an open online market system that enables smallholder farmers to sell their produce on time and avoid spoilage, through the utilization of timely, and relevant low cost tools for information, communication and trade transactions with prospective buyers.

FarmBracket online market system enables potential buyers to easily access farmers profile based on the quantity and quality of produce available for takeoff. The system will achieve this through the use of an SMS to Web platform that automatically enable rural farmers simply and readily update their status based on the quantity of goods ready for sale by an “Easy Go Dial Code” which we will provide for them on their phones.

Our goal is to build a bracketed channel of farm producers, processors and buyers through one system. Our strategy is to implement a methodology that drives Agri-ICT Market to the last-mile farmer in Nigeria and Africa through Phone SMS to Web.
