Project United Knowledge (Project UK) in Kansas City, MO is one of 10 American programs participating in the GIST Business Incubation. The Business Incubation has brought 29 innovative, global startups to unique, startup ecosystems across 9 states. 

Along with the other incubators, Project UK will provide entrepreneurs with exposure to the U.S. market and startup resources. They will also work with the participating startups to refine their ideas, build business plans, and find the right market for their product.

Project UK, funded by the Kauffman Foundation, is an incubator that provides tailored programming for startups in the Kansas City area. They are based on a large co-working space with other community startups and have access to networks of investors, mentors, and industry experts. The incubator assists entrepreneurs through business validation, mentor matching, product creation, product validation, software development, and funding support programs.

Project UK has helped its founders find $1.68M in early-stage idea funding through local community sources and their industry focus is agtech/foodtech, consumer products, and healthtech.

  • Medobar - Bosnia and Herzegovina
    • The beekeeping technique didn't change in the last 50 years, but the bees' environment changes a lot. Their product gadgets for hive transform traditional hive into a smart hive that provide valuable scientific data. Using data we will change the beekeeping industry in the future.
  • Dronee - Azerbaijan

 

Important Dates

The startups will incubate from October 14 - November 8, then convene in Washington D.C. from November 9 -21 for additional incubation. 

About Business Incubation

The goal of the program is to support international science and technology innovators who are looking to expand their startups into the United States market. It will also provide the U.S. startup ecosystem the opportunity to forge new connections with entrepreneurs who are abroad.

The 2019 GIST Business Incubation program will provide entrepreneurs with exposure to the U.S. market and startup resources. While in residence with the program, participants will work on refining their ideas, building their business plans, and finding the right market for their product. Participating entrepreneurs will also have the opportunity to network within the startup ecosystem where they are placed.
