Why is it important to have a GIST Innovation Hub in Lima?
In order to continue nourishing the entrepreneurship ecosystem, we need spaces for discussion, knowledge sharing and networking. The GIST Innovation Hub provides just that.

What are some emerging opportunities available to Lima's innovators that weren't present five years ago?
There were essentially no institutions that provided support for high-impact entrepreneurs and innovators. Today, there are multiple government initiatives as well as a number of private initiatives. This not only provides support for those who are trying to innovate, but it also attracts more talent to get involved in this sector.
What was the focus of your recent GIST Innovation Hub meet up? Why did you choose that topic?
We hosted a viewing group for the recent TechConnect about failing forward. It is important to demystify failure in an innovation/entrepreneurship ecosystem. In the process of reaching success, failure is a big part of the journey. It’s important that people learn how to be comfortable with setbacks and use the experience to grow.

What other topics do you hope to address in future meetups?
Social innovation is something that we would like to explore. We believe that as part of an emerging economy, it is our responsibility to find ways to help those who have not been as fortunate as us. Innovation and technology can accelerate solutions for huge problems that our country is facing, which is why promoting social innovation is definitely on our agenda for future GIST Innovation Hub meetings.
GIST Innovation Hubs are designed to build strong and vibrant networks of young science and technology entrepreneurs around the world. Through community-led meetup groups, the program aims to bolster the participants’ networking and entrepreneurial skills to build durable, long-term, supportive networks. The ultimate goal is to stimulate local entrepreneurial activity and ensure participants can grow their skills and businesses together - both in their home country and through global connections.
