GIST Alum, Liber Health, Selected to Represent UAE at World Summit Awards

November 20, 2020

GIST Alum, Liber Heath, has earned the nomination of best national digital solution in the category of Health and Well-being and will be representing the United Arab Emirates for the 2020 World Summit Awards (WSA).

Liber Health founder, Syed Abrar Ahmed, said the recognition the award brings “amplifies the importance of his and many other impactful solutions” that are making the world a better place.

This year, WSA national experts from 77 countries nominated over 342 social digital solutions.

Being a nomination-based award system, participants are selected via national competitions and expert panels.

The WSA 2020 nominees will be then evaluated based on seven fundamentals criteria--content, functionality, design, technology, innovation, impact, and value--as they compete against each other in the WSA Finals.

Liber Health’s solution is a first-of-its-kind digital identity platform powered by blockchain and biometrics which uses safe and contactless IRIS recognition for identification, privacy, health data transfer and fever detection for healthcare providers. These safeguards empower service providers who are struggling with misidentifications, duplicate records, and ensuring workforce and consumer well-being and safety inside their facilities.

The WSA combines a series of international events and activities with a global network of start-ups, social entrepreneurs, mentors, jurors, speakers, experts, government leaders, academia and civil society. Winners will be announced in December.
