GIST TechConnect: Overcome Challenges Facing Your Startup

A live, interactive webchat

What do you have in common with a Silicon Valley entrepreneur? Advice for entrepreneurs in Silicon Valley doesn’t always work for entrepreneurs in emerging-market countries, like those in the Global Innovation through Science and Technology (GIST) Initiative. Emerging-market entrepreneurs face unique challenges in business ecosystems that are very different from those in the United States. Join our next GIST Guru webchat on March 14@15:00UTC. Gurus Habib Haddad and Elmira Bayrasli will discuss the unique challenges facing emerging market entrepreneurs like you, and teach you strategies to overcome them!

Meet your Gurus:
Habib Haddad is a serial entrepreneur, early-stage investor and currently managing director for E14, the MIT Media Lab fund focused on early-stage companies out of MIT. Previously, he was the founding CEO of Wamda, a platform of programs and networks to accelerate entrepreneurial ecosystems across the Middle East and North Africa. Habib was also a venture partner of Wamda Capital, a growth capital VC fund. His work in the MENA region is credited with playing a key role in strengthening its nascent entrepreneurial ecosystem.

Elmira Bayrasli has spent the past two decades working on foreign policy, international development, and with startups worldwide. She is a visiting fellow at New America, co-founder of Foreign Policy Interrupted and a lecturer at New York University and Bard College.
