Mobile App that Helps Find Lost Items Wins at Imagine Cup EMEA Regional Finals

March 19, 2019

Have you ever lost an item, such as your keys, and not been able to remember where you put them? Now there is an app to help you find the items that you lose. It’s been developed by a team of students from the United Kingdom who will showcase their app to the world at the 2019 Microsoft Imagine Cup World Champions.

Team Finderr won first place at the Imagine Cup EMEA Regional Finals, which means they have secured themselves a spot at the World Champions this May in Seattle, USA. Finderr is a smartphone app specifically created to help people find lost items. The app uses cognitive services and virtual machines to help in the search, and is accessible to everyone including the visually impaired.

As the winning team at the regional finals, Finderr has also won $15,000 USD in seed capital.

GIST partnered with Microsoft to provide training for the participating startup teams at the regional finals in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. The GIST Pitch Training provided industry experts who helped the teams understand how to perfect their pitches, present their startups to the panel of judges, and run a growing business. During the training, students received one-on-one mentorship and plenty of time to practice.

Team Finderr was one of three teams to win prizes at the EMEA Regional Finals, and one of 12 teams competing from 10 countries. To meet the rest of the winning teams, click on the button below.
