MINO Microbubble Technology

THE GRAB
Our mission statement is to help and improve the livelihood of local f ish f armers throughout ASEAN with simple and af f ordable technology. We provide these with a dedication to the quality delivered with the spirit of development f or the betterment of ASEAN aquaculture.

PROBLEM/OPPORTUNITY
The current challenge f or the Aquaculture Industry is the availability of land and f resh water issue. In aquaculture industry, f armers would need to create their pond shallow, so the oxygen could penetrate into the bottom of the pond. With this characteristic, it is hard f or them to multiply their productions or to invest in one since it requires large area of land. Thus, business and small sh f armers need an advanced but af f ordable technology to increase their sh production. (Rustadi, 2016).

SOLUTION/PRODUCT
MINO “Microbubble Technology”, a multi discipline socio-entrepreneurship project, f ocusing in the implementation of advanced water treatment technology. MINO will allow us to create deeper ponds compared to the common aerator system; it will increase the yield without having to open more areas. With its three main components, this technology is an implementation of multiphase f low by varying the quantity of air and water debit to generate microdiameter of bubbles with size 40 μm that could increase the number of Dissolved Oxygen in the water that is important f or f ish growth.

POTENTIAL RETURN/REVENUE MODEL
Indonesia’s market of f ish and f ish products is f ast growing (over 14% CAGR over 2007-2012). Indonesian f ish and f ish products market highly f ragmented, served by over 15,000 entities, with f ive leading companies generating only 2% of production. 8% turnover CAGR predicted over 2013-2018 due to the government program with aim to encourage f ish
consumption.

Mino will operate in Environmental Technology Industry with research and development as it’s key activities and mainly will be f ocusing on the application of the technology in aquaculture. Indonesia Environmental Technology Market has CAGR of 9% f rom 2004 – 2016 but weak technical capacity in the public sector and poor administration of assets increases the likelihood that the application of environmental technologies in Indonesia f or the short term will remain the purview of the private sector and donor organizations (U.S Dept of Commerce, 2016).

COMPETITION
Our main competitor is conventional aerator that’s priced way much cheaper than our technology but doesnt have the ability to increase the dissolved oxygen in the water and increase the f ish weight up tp 40% just like what Mino does.

EXECUTION PLAN/GO TO MARKET STRATEGY
We will market MINO f rom one f ish f armer group to another by giving them f inancing options or engaging them opportunity to be our distributor. Currently we’re working closely with f ish f armers group in Bokesan, Bokesan area could earn yield of 11billion rupiah/year and has became one of the Indonesia pilot group in small aquaculture Industry. We’ll start a pilot project by installing our technology in 30 ponds as we collect more data and they’ll also able to enjoy the increasing yield too, we’ll approach them to be our main distributor and will work closely with the media to report our f indings in Bokesan, as we aim this pilot project could also act as one of our initial marketing investment., that’s why to increase the market penetration we will open opportunity f or any other f ish f armer group to be our distributor by benchmarking with Bokesan’s data and give them credit options and cheaper distributor price. We also have calculated a projection, if Bokesan area applied aour technology in their ponds we will be able to increase their annual net income up to 26%.

FINANCIALS
We will need the total of $ 42.064,66 to f und our initial project and the f irst initial year investment and operations, thus over the years. With NPV of $8.709,95, 12% IRR and 1.6 Years Payback Period.
