Although focusing on the 'home modifications' eco-system, at ZaSve we believe that the built environment is currently designed and constructed to exclude the meaningful participation of many groups of people. The way forward is to equip all stakeholders (users, planners, builders, designers, property developers, legislators et al.) in the planning, designing, building and living processes with universal design knowledge to reduce systemic discrimination and give better opportunities for all people.
ZaSve is the brainchild of Naziaty Mohd Yaacob, who is well known for her activism work on the rights of persons with disabilities in Malaysia since 1998. ZaSve was created by Naziaty in 2015. Between 2015-2017 there were several consultancy projects (access audits) and incubation projects (Universal Bus Stop and Wheelchair Gate) being conducted or had received IPs. Now the focus is on 'home modifications'and products and tools including apps and training tools are being developed.
